On February 18, Sony San Diego (SDS) released the second bulk release of MLB The Show 25 info. Through a ‘Fielding Feedback’ video posted on YouTube, changes for the game’s Road to the Show mode were unveiled. Among the changes include a completely re-designed attribute and perk system, plus high school and college ball.
Arguably the highlight of the Road to the Show feedback deep dive, which went live on February 18, went over the new ‘Path to 99’ progression system. It was stated that players will be able to manually improve one attribute or multiple ones. The trailer showed this can be done through Tokens.

This is in stark contrast with how Ballplayer worked in past MLB The Show games. Individuals chose an archetype, which had preset strengths and weaknesses. Then, one needed to play games and perform well to maximize said attributes.
There’s also a perk crafting system. These can also be unlocked with Tokens, and by performing specific tasks. The trailer highlighted a ‘Clear for Takeoff’ that boosts attributes when ahead of counts. Additionally, the trailer showcased Fielding perks that can be obtained by making ‘flawless plays.’

As for how one moves up the ladder, the MLB Draft Combine returns for ’25. However, how one gets there will be different. MLB The Show 25 will include high school games, and later on, college.
Individuals can get drafted out of high school and then decide whether to go pro or head to university. Eight schools — LSU, Tennessee, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, UCLA, Cal State Fullerton, TCU, and Texas — are selectable.

Additionally, SDS went over some of the new in-game features, specifically for first-person action.

There’s a new first-person camera for fielding now usable in MLB The Show 25. The developers also added a ‘Hot Shot’ mini-game, designed to challenge infielders to successfully reel in hard-hit ground balls.
Catchers now have a mini-game focused on trying to quickly recognize pitches in the dirt, to prevent them from getting by. Backstops can also “take charge” by directing corner infielders where to go for throws from the outfield.
Also, there are new hit paths in all MLB stadiums, places where foul balls can be robbed.
The trailer also highlighted some subtle changes, including modifications to Minor League stadiums like Laughing Mountain Park.
This was the second notable info reveal for MLB The Show 25, one week after a gameplay-focused one. The developers will have a Feature Premiere going over more of these features in detail on February 20.
