Right now, the MLB-themed mobile game landscape is crowded. Between MLB Rivals, MLB 9 Innings, and Konami’s MLB Pro Spirit, there are plenty of options for mobile. Sony, the developer of MLB The Show, is the latest game developer/publisher that is getting into the market. MLB The Show Mobile began to slowly rollout, starting on December 3 in Asia.
MLB The Show Mobile soft launch begins
The first country to gain access to MLB The Show Mobile was the Philippines on December 3. Per Sony, it’s currently in a “limited regional release” stage.
Sony stated via its FAQ website that it will continue to expand availability globally. However, there is no timeline for when exactly that expansion will occur.
In late November, Sony San Diego released an unlisted 30-second trailer on YouTube. That trailer showed off some of the miniature gameplay, as well as a CCG game mode that looks similar to Diamond Dynasty. It involves solo and PvP modes, with Topps/Live Series card art that resembles the one currently found in MLB The Show 25.

Additionally, gameplay included a bat PCI as a hitting interface, along with a different-looking meter for pitching.

This experience, per Sony, will be entirely separate from the console version of MLB The Show, much like mobile-specific versions for other sports games like Madden and NBA 2K’s mobile games.
