Konami has released several major sports entries over the past few years, aside from eFootball/PES. Not only does the publisher have a deal with MLB for a mobile game but now, there’s eBaseball Pro Spirit. The new free-to-play game was quietly released on March 4.
eBaseball Pro Spirit is now available
eBaseball Pro Spirit is a free-to-play title that captures the essential gameplay elements of Professional Baseball Spirits but also doesn’t include many details in the game.
For starters, the game utilizes the Konami eBaseball engine, built on the Unreal Engine. It has the same control setup and customization options as well as roughly the same quirks and animations that make up the gameplay as Professional Baseball Spirits.
eBaseball Pro Spirit allows players to customize the speed and movement of the bat cursor, the pitch speeds that range from very slow to realistic, as well as pitching and fielding settings.

However, there are many differences. One, there are English and Japanese commentaries and menu layouts, something that Professional Baseball Spirits does not have. Prospi’s menus are mostly in Japanese, while the commentary is entirely in the native language of Japan.
The English commentary is done by former Mets and current Orioles radio announcer Josh Lewin. It should also be noted that, per Konami, some of the Japanese commentary is aided by AI.
Editor’s note: It sure sounds like it, even on the English side. In my first hour with the game, the audio incorrectly attributed splitters and sinkers as breaking balls.
Two, there are no real players in the game. Instead, Konami created custom rosters filled with non-descript players who have varying fielding, hitting, and pitching attributes. And for those who stick to online, you’ll notice that some teams have the same players.

Instead, players can choose a country to represent. Those teams will have the national flag as the logo and jerseys designed by Konami. And it should be noted that these jerseys resemble nothing like the ones in the World Baseball Classic.
There are only two game modes to choose from: Exhibition and the World Championship game mode, the latter of which features online play.
