2024 AL MVP: Power rankings, odds, more

With Shohei Ohtani now in the National League, it’s guaranteed that a new AL MVP will be crowned in 2024. With the 2024 MLB season underway, here’s an early look at our power rankings for the 2024 AL MVP, plus odds and other information to know.

Here’s a look at 2024 AL MVP odds, courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook (as of April 21):

Soto remains the favorite, as the Yankees outfielder’s odds to win AL MVP are at +350, slightly higher than the +400 he sat at the beginning of April.

Bobby Witt Jr., who went from +1300 to +450 in a matter of weeks, has made serious strides in the betting odds.

Power rankings

Here’s a look at our April power rankings for the 2024 AL MVP:

  1. Juan Soto
  2. Bobby Witt Jr.
  3. Mike Trout
  4. Gunnar Henderson
  5. Jose Altuve

It’s been a very strong start to 2024 for Yankees outfielder Juan Soto, who entered play on April 21 with a .354 average, five home runs, and a 1.077 OPS. No player in the AL had a higher bWAR than Soto (1.6).

Meanwhile in Kansas City, Bobby Witt Jr. posted a very respectable .304 average with four home runs and four stolen bases. Witt Jr. recorded a 30-30 campaign in 2023, the first of his career and first in Royals history.

Healthy in 2024, Mike Trout entered play on the 21st tied for first in home runs (8), along with Braves OF/DH Marcell Ozuna.

When is the AL MVP winner announced?

The AL MVP Award winner is traditionally revealed after the conclusion of the postseason.

Why can’t I bet on the AL MVP?
