We’ve made it past the first weekend of the 2024 MLB season and now we move to the first full week. It’s a big week for many, as several teams will host their home openers, while others look to rebound after slow starts. With that said, here’s a look at our best MLB bet picks for April 1, 2024.

Here’s a look at our best MLB bets for April 1 (odds via BetMGM New York Sportsbook):
- Tigers/Mets under 7.5 runs (-110)
- Ronel Blanco over 4.5 strikeouts (-105)
It’s set to be a cold, raw night in Flushing between two teams that haven’t scored much thus far this season. Hence, why we like the Tigers and Mets to go under 7.5 runs in their first game of 2024.
Detroit scored 11 runs over their three games in Chicago against the White Sox, while the Mets put up just eight against the Brewers. Those eight runs were tied for last heading into play in April, along with those aforementioned Sox.
With two good pitchers on the mound in Reese Olson and Sean Manaea, we expect a low-scoring game.
Our second pick is Ronel Blanco going over 4.5 strikeouts against the Blue Jays on April 1. Blanco made the Astros rotation after a good spring and injuries to several regular starters, including Justin Verlander and Jose Urquidy.
Blanco made seven starts for Houston last season and struck out at least five in five of those games, including on June 7 against the Jays. Blanco struck out Bo Bichette twice in that game. Toronto has struck out 33 times over their first four games of 2024.
