April 15 is Jackie Robinson Day across Major League Baseball, and everyone will be in action. It’s also Patriots’ Day in Boston, meaning the action will start at 11 AM ET between the Guardians and Red Sox. With a full slate of games, here are our best MLB bets for April 15, 2024.

Here’s a look at our best MLB bets for April 15 (odds via BetMGM New York Sportsbook):
- Aaron Nola over 6.5 strikeouts (-155)
- Cardinals -0.5 in first five innings (-120)
It’s been a strange start to 2024 for Aaron Nola, who’s yet to get past four strikeouts in a start this past season. Nola has been one of the game’s premier strikeout pitchers, as the righty struck out at least 200 in each of the last five full seasons.
There are concerning numbers from Nola to this point, namely the dip in velocity and the fact he’s inducing fewer chases. And, he’s yet to record a whiff on his changeup this season. However, the righty has a chance to break that stretch against the Rockies.
Colorado has the fifth-worst Whiff% rate (28.0%) and fifth-most strikeouts (149) on the season, a good matchup for Nola to get back on track at home. Nola owns a career K/9 rate of 10.7 in Philadelphia.
As for our second pick, Sonny Gray and the Cardinals are going to Oakland, the place where Gray made a name for himself in the Majors.
It’s an interesting matchup for the Cardinals, after a series against the D-Backs in which St. Louis scored just two runs over the final two games. Luckily for the Cardinals, it’s a somewhat favorable matchup against Ross Stripling, who owns a 5.50 ERA on the season.
It is also worth noting that Paul Goldschmidt (.368, 2 HR) and Nolan Arenado (.467, 2 HR) both had prior success against Stripling, although much of that was pre-2020 when the righty was still with Los Angeles.
