A fresh slate of MLB contests is set for April 16, including a marquee matchup between the Braves and Astros, and the second round between the Yankees and Blue Jays. With that said, here’s a look at our best MLB bets for April 16, 2024.

Our best bets for April 16

Here’s a look at our best MLB bets for April 16 (odds via BetMGM New York Sportsbook):

It’s been a rough start for the Marlins, who enter play with the second-worst wOBA (.270), behind only the Chicago White Sox. April 16 won’t be easy for the Marlins, either, as Miami is set to face Jordan Hicks.

Hicks owns a sparkling 1.00 ERA over his first 18 innings of 2024. And while he did struggle with command problems as a reliever, Hicks has done a strong job of pounding the zone with his two-seamer to his point and inducing ground balls.

Hicks has thrown six or more innings in two of his first three outings.

As for our second pick, Matt Olson has recorded at least one hit in nine of his last 10 games, dating back to April 5. In that span, he’s hit the over 1.5 H+R+RBI seven times.

Given that he mainly bats fourth in a lineup behind the likes of Ronald Acuna Jr. and Austin Riley, it’s not a shock that he puts up those kind of numbers regularly. Olson and the Braves will face Hunter Brown, the Houston hurler with very good stuff but inconsistent results.

Brown has given up 14 earned runs over his last two starts.

Our bets from April 15

For reference, these were our picks from April 15, both of which hit:

  • Aaron Nola over 6.5 strikeouts (-155)
  • Cardinals -0.5 in first five innings (-120)

2024 Total Record: 17-13
