May ends after today, a month that’s been quite kind to Jake Meyers. Meyers entered May 31 with a .333/413/.531 slash line with three home runs and 14 RBI and he’s turned into a key piece for Houston’s lineup after struggling for consistent playing time over the last few seasons.
Meyers notched another hit on May 30 against Seattle. That marked the 11th time out of his last 14 contests he recorded at least one hit. The 27-year-old will face Pablo Lopez on May 31 and Meyers is hitting .337 on the year against righties.
As for our second pick, the Dodgers return to Chavez Ravine after sweeping the New York Mets in Queens. Los Angeles will start a series on the 31st against the Rockies.
It’s the first time this season Los Angeles will play the Rockies, a team the Dodgers beat up in spades last year. The Dodgers went 10-3 against the Rockies last season and outscored Colorado 90-46 — without Shohei Ohtani.
Walker Buehler is on the mound for Los Angeles and the righty threw a season-high 91 pitches last week against Cincinnati. He’s given up three runs over his last 11.2 IP. Los Angeles will face Dakota Hudson, who didn’t face Los Angeles last season but has had trouble getting hitters to chase and with the walks. Hudson walked 28 over his first 50.1 IP of 2024.
