We’ve officially reached September. The final month of the 2025 fantasy baseball season means playoffs for H2H leagues and the last push to win points in roto leagues. With Week 22 of the 2025 fantasy baseball season on the horizon, here’s a look at five pitching waiver wire targets to consider.

Best Week 22 pitchers to target

• SP Kyle Bradish (Orioles)
• SP Yu Darvish (Padres)
• SP Ian Seymour (Rays)
• SP Jonah Tong (Mets)
• RP Abner Uribe (Brewers)

Mets fans got a good look at rookie Jonah Tong this past Friday, as the right-hander made his MLB debut against the Marlins. And while he struggled with command at times during the outing. Tong struck out six over five innings and picked up his first Major League win.

Tong is scheduled to make one start this coming week, against the Reds this coming weekend. It’s not an ideal matchup, given how hitter-friendly Cincinnati is. Nonetheless, Tong is a name to lock in on over the final month.

He was a strikeout machine down in the Minors, thanks in large part to his plus-plus fastball (more on that here).

Next up is Kyle Bradish, who made his 2025 debut in style this past week. Bradish struck out 10 over six frames against the Red Sox, showing the swing-and-miss he did last year.

Bradish has very good stuff and should provide value over the last month, even if the Orioles won’t be playoff contenders. He’ll face the Padres on September 1.

Speaking of the Padres, Yu Darvish will face Tyler Wells and the O’s on the 2nd.

Darvish’s numbers this season are weird. Yes, he has a 5.66 ERA this season. But, opposing hitters only hit .163 off him over the last week. His strikeout numbers are down but he’s not giving up a ton of well-hit contact. The one weak link in his arsenal thus far has been the sweeper. Four of the eight home runs he’s surrendered this season have been off the pitch.

The last starter on this list is Ian Seymour, who’s excelled in the rotation since being moved there this month. The Rays left-hander won his third game of 2025 on August 31, as he struck out eight over five innings.

Seymour flew under the radar down in Triple-A and has found success in the Majors thanks to his four-seamer/cutter/running changeup combo. He finished the last week tied with Cam Schlittler and Mitch Keller for most strikeouts (16) in the league.

He’s in line to face the Red Sox at home this weekend.

Lastly, Abner Uribe did not allow a run over his last seven innings over the last two weeks. But more importantly, the hard-throwing right-hander notched two saves over the last week.

The Brewers placed closer Trevor Megill on the IL this past week, opening the door for Uribe to get saves in the interim. Megill stated he thinks he can be ready to return next week but for now, the Brewers’ interim closer might be of use.

Overview of Week 21

Speaking of Schlittler, the Yankees’ rookie did very well over the last week.

He didn’t snatch two wins. But, he got one and posted a strong .75 combined ERA against the Nationals and White Sox.

Parker Messick struck out eight over seven scoreless innings against the Rays, his second strong start in a row since his MLB promotion.

Michael Lorenzen struck out six White Sox in his lone start. However, he surrendered four wins and didn’t get a decision.
