The Red Sox received unfortunate, yet expected news on May 3, as Triston Casas will likely be out for the remainder of the 2025 season. That is part of several notes, as part of the injury report for May 3.

Updates on Casas and Campbell

The news is not good for Triston Casas, who Alex Cora stated suffered a serious knee injury on the 2nd against the Twins. Casas suffered a ruptured left patellar tendon, which will likely end his 2025 season.

Boston was also without Kristian Campbell thanks to a rib injury for the third consecutive day. However, Cora believes Campbell can play tomorrow.

Dodgers lose Edman

The Dodgers will be without Tommy Edman, who hasn’t played since April 29, for the interim. Edman was placed on the injured list on May 3, retroactive to April 30, with right ankle inflammation.

Los Angeles recalled Hyeseong Kim, who was signed to a significant deal last winter out of the KBO. However, Kim was optioned to Oklahoma City (AAA) and posted good numbers down with the Comets. Kim hit five home runs and stole 13 bases before his promotion.

Rehab assignments

San Diego had two notable players on rehab assignments. In Arizona, Jake Cronenworth placed in the ACL Padres’ first game of 2025, and he went 1-3 with a strikeout. He did not play the whole game.

Meanwhile, in San Antonio, Jackson Merrill returned to Double-A and went 2-3 with a walk and run scored. Merrill is working his way back from a hamstring strain sustained in early April.

Orioles pitcher Chayce McDermott struck out three in four shutout innings with Norfolk (AAA).

Diamondbacks pitcher Kendall Graveman started in the ACL on May 3 and threw 1.1 scoreless innings.

Other injury news

Baltimore placed infielder Ramon Urias on the injured list with a right hamstring strain, retroactive to May 1. The Orioles recalled prospect Coby Mayo.

The Phillies actived Brandon Marsh and Ranger Suarez from the injured list. Suarez, placed on the IL with back stiffness before the start of 2025, has yet to pitch in a game this season.

Seattle activated reliever Matt Brash, who missed all of 2024, from the IL. Additionally, the Mariners’ oppponent on May 3, the Rangers, activated Corey Seager.

Los Angeles (AL) placed reliever Garrett McDaniels on the injured list with left biceps tendinitis. It’s retroactive to May 2.

Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez, who suffered an ankle sprain on May 2, did not play on May 3 against the Blue Jays.
