Getaway day proved to be a tough one for several MLB teams, as several notables went down on May 4. Among those players included outfielder Randy Arozarena, plus pitchers Tanner Bibee, Freddy Peralta, and Shota Imanaga.
Arozarena leaves game against Rangers
Randy Arozarena exited the Mariners’ 8-1 loss on May 4 with a hamstring injury. However, manager Dan Wilson stated it’s not believed to be a serious issue.
Arozarena recorded a hit, giving him a hit in six of his last seven games.
Peralta departs despite stellar outing
Brewers pitcher Freddy Peralta notched his fourth win of 2025 and lowered his ERA to 2.18. However, Peralta left the game after 89 pitches after he experienced groin soreness, per the team.
Peralta wasn’t the only starter in the Cubs/Brewers game who exited early. Cubs pitcher Shota Imanaga suffered a left hamstring strain covering first base on a ground ball.
Varsho & Volpe miss games
Two AL East teams were down key pieces on May 4.
The Blue Jays did not have Daulton Varsho, as the Toronto outfielder missed their game against the Guardians with back tightness.
Anthony Volpe, meanwhile, did not play on May 4 against the Rays. Volpe told the media on the 3rd he felt a pop in his left shoulder after diving at a ground ball. However, he remained in the game after being checked out.
The Yankees’ shortstop underwent X-rays, and it was determined his shoulder was fine structurally. However, he’ll undergo additional testing.
