The list of injured players grew on April 9, as several notable individuals went down. Zach Eflin (Orioles) and Justin Steele (Cubs) are on the injured list, as is outfielder Wyatt Langford.
Langford heads to IL again
One day after Wyatt Langford notched two hits against the Cubs but left the game, the 23-year-old hit the IL with a right oblique strain. The strain was confirmed via an MRI.
It’s the second time in two years Langford has hit the injured list. Last season, the Rangers outfielder missed three weeks with a right hamstring strain.
Steele lands on injured list
The Cubs lost left-hander Justin Steele thanks to left elbow tendinitis. Steele was placed on the 15-day IL retroactive to April 8 on the 9th.
Steele, whose velocity has been down .6 MPH on average compared to 2024, had a great outing on April 7 against the Rangers. The left-hander struck out eight batters over seven scoreless frames, the first time he went seven this season.
Eflin also on IL
Baltimore’s rotation took yet another hit on April 9, as Zach Eflin joins Grayson Rodriguez, Kyle Bradish, Tyler Wells, Trevor Rogers, and Albert Suarez on the injured list (Bradish, Wells, & Suarez are on the 60-day IL).
For Eflin, he’s on the injured list with a right lat strain.
Eflin pitched well across his first three starts, as he owned a .83 WHIP, including just one walk, over 18 frames.
