Part of the 2025 MLB All-Star roster puzzle was completed on July 2. Major League Baseball confirmed which players won Phase 2 of the fan vote and won starting positions for this year’s game in Atlanta. Needless to say, the rosters are well fortified, as the two include multiple former MVP winners. And on July 6, the league announced the reserves & pitchers headed to Georgia.

Thanks to Phase 1 of the All-Star vote, Aaron Judge was the first player to be named an American League All-Star. Judge received the most votes among all AL players.
Judge is currently the Major League leader in several categories as of the 2nd, including hits (112), slugging percentage (.722), and OPS (1.188).
The rest of the American League roster is formidable.
Cal Raleigh, the Majors’ leader in home runs (32) and a participant in the 2025 Home Run Derby, will be the AL’s starting catcher.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. won the AL vote at first base. Gleyber Torres, benefitting in part from the Tigers’ surge, won the second base vote.
Aside from Torres, Riley Greene and Javier Baez will join Torres. Tarik Skubal, the Tigers’ ace, will start the game for the American League on the mound.
Jacob Wilson, a presumptive favorite for the 2025 AL Rookie of the Year, beat out Bobby Witt Jr. for the shortstop position. Wilson is second in the Majors in hits (108), behind only Judge. Witt Jr., though, made it as a reserve.
Jose Ramirez, who hit .305 over his first 80 games, won the third base vote to represent Cleveland.
As for the reserves, three Red Sox, including an injured Alex Bregman and newcomers Aroldis Chapman and Garrett Crochet, made the team. Also among the pitchers include former Cy Young winner Jacob deGrom, as well as breakout pitcher Kris Bubic. Potential 2025 Cy Young candidate Hunter Brown is also headed to Atlanta.
First-time All-Stars include Jonathan Aranda (Rays) and 2024 Rule 5 pick Shane Smith (White Sox).
On July 8, Rays third baseman Junior Caminero also became a first-time All-Star. Alex Bregman, on the IL, will not participate.

Shohei Ohtani won the NL fan vote in Phase 1, assuring the Dodgers’ two-way star will be headed to Atlanta.
Ohtani, as of the 2nd, was the National League leader in home runs (30) and OPS (1.024).
Aside from the three-time MVP, Ohtani will be one of several Dodgers to represent the reigning World Series champions in Atlanta.
Will Smith (C) and Freddie Freeman (1B) will also join Ohtani. Smith has the highest average (.320) among qualified MLB catchers, while Freeman is second (.308) among first basemen.
Those two are part of an infield that will be almost entirely represented by the NL West. Manny Machado, in the top 20 of the Majors in hits, will start at third base. Ketel Marte, with 17 home runs over 59 games, will start at second base.
The lone non-NL-West player in the infield is Francisco Lindor, who will start in the All-Star Game for the first time.
As for the outfield, hometown star Ronald Acuna Jr. will be joined by Pete Crow-Armstrong and Kyle Tucker from the Cubs. Additionally, Matt Olson and Chris Sale (IL) will be All-Stars.
The starting pitcher for the National League will be Paul Skenes.
Notable reserves include Eugenio Suarez (Diamondbacks), Fernando Tatis Jr. (Padres), and James Wood (Nationals). Wood, who will be in the Home Run Derby, and Suarez were in the top ten of the league in home runs as of the 6th.
The group of pitchers includes the aforementioned Paul Skenes and Zack Wheeler, potentially the two finalists for the NL Cy Young Award. Clayton Kershaw, who notched strikeout #3,000 in June, is in as a Legend Pick, made by the Commissioner.
On July 8, Andrew Abbott (Reds) and Robert Suarez (Padres) were announced as replacements. Abbott will replace Yoshinobu Yamamoto, ineligible since he’ll pitch the Sunday before the game. Suarez replaces the injured Chris Sale.
An even more interesting addition came on July 11, when Jacob Misiorowski made the roster after just five Major League starts. The Brewers rookie replaced Matthew Boyd.
Starters were unveiled on July 2. The reserve hitters, plus pitchers, were revealed on July 6. MLB uses input from players and personnel to decide which pitchers and backups make the All-Star Game.
