Many of the schools across college baseball completed their weekend slates on April 4. It was a big day for UGA, as well as Texas, Ole Miss, and the North Carolina Tar Heels. Plus, West Virginia picked up a major win over Big 12 rival UCF.
SEC recap
Dylan Volantis struck out six for the Texas Longhorns on April 4. Texas defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks 4-1.
Ole Miss, meanwhile, won 5-2 over Florida to win the weekend series from the Gators. Judd Utermark hit a home run and two RBI for the Rebels.
Georgia completed a road sweep of Mississippi State, as Caden Aoki and the Bulldogs beat Hail State 8-5. Aside from Aoki, 2025 transfers Matt Scott and Rylan Lujo both loomed large in the win. Lujo had three hits, while Scott struck out three over 2.2 scoreless innings.
Cam Appenzeller kept the LSU Tigers in check during Tennessee’s 4-1 victory over the Tigers. Appenzeller struck out six over five scoreless innings.
Auburn defeated Arkansas 8-3. The Tigers had 11 hits, and Jackson Sanders struck out eight over four scoreless innings in relief.
A three-run first was all that Alabama needed to win 3-2 over Oklahoma. Bryce Fowler continued his hot streak with two more hits.
Kentucky defeated Missouri 9-2.
ACC recap
A three-run seventh inning secured an 8-7 victory for the UNC Tar Heels over the Boston College Eagles. Macon Winslow and Owen Hull drove in two runs for North Carolina, while Walker McDuffie threw two scoreless innings to finish out the win.
Bryson Moore and Florida State finished out a road series victory in Virginia with a 9-3 win. Moore struck out seven in the victory for the Seminoles. Kyle Johnson, Antonio Perrotta, and Joe Tiroly all hit home runs for UVA after Moore left the contest.
Wake Forest picked up a 22-8 run-rule victory over Pittsburgh. Dalton Wentz and Luke Costello hit home runs for the Demon Deacons.
NC State avoided a home loss to Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish picked up five runs in the final frame to go up 6-5. However, a two-run single by Ty Head gave the Wolfpack the win.
Drew Burress and Jarren Advincula both had three hits for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, who beat the Cal Bears 9-3.
Miami (FL) beat Virginia Tech 8-6, while Stanford upset Clemson 5-4.
Big 12 recap
Dominic Smaldino hit a home run and drove in six for the Arizona State Sun Devils, who defeated the Arizona Wildcats 15-6. Landon Hairston added a home run to his gaudy numbers this season.
West Virginia tallied four in the bottom of the ninth to finish a comeback victory over UCF 11-10. Matthew Graveline picked up a two-run single to complete the win for the Mountaineers.
TCU picked up a win over Kansas State, 9-3. Cole Cramer and Jack Arthur hit home runs for the Horned Frogs.
Oklahoma State defeated the Cincinnati Bearcats 11-3. TP Wentworth had two home runs and drove in five RBI.
Other news
Nebraska swept Penn State in a doubleheader. The Cornhuskers took the first game 8-7 and then 13-1 in the second contest.
UCLA held off USC to win the weekend series against its in-state Big 10 rival. Will Gasparino, Mulivai Levu, and Roman Martin each had two hits, while Payton Brennan had three, including a home run.
Southern Miss and Coastal Carolina both picked up wins after losses a day earlier.
Ethan Kleinschmit and Oregon State finished out a three-game sweep of Lamar. Kleinschmit allowed just three hits over 5.2 innings.
