The last thing that the Braves needed was an injury to Ronald Acuna Jr. over the final week. Unfortunately, that happened, as Acuna Jr. left with a shin injury. Luckily, it appears to be minor in this instance.

Acuna Jr. leaves game

Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. was removed on the 22nd with a left shin contusion.

Acuna Jr. suffered the injury after he fouled a 91 MPH cutter off the shin in the third inning against the Reds.

X-rays came back negative, and Acuna Jr. is considered day-to-day.

Ohtani likely to return on 23rd

The Dodgers are expected to get Shohei Ohtani back on September 23.

It’s a boost, to say the least, for the Dodgers. And, he’ll get some work in before the Dodgers embark on their postseason run starting next week.

Judge unlikely for Wild Card round

Yankees manager Aaron Boone indicated that the club is not planning on having Aaron Judge ready for the AL Wild Card round.

Judge had a PPP injection for his calf, and will kept on the shelf with no activity for the next few days.

IL moves

Christian Scott‘s season is over, as the Mets pitcher was placed on the 15-day IL with left knee inflammation.

Reds reliever Tony Santillan‘s season ends on the IL, as he was placed there with a left hip labral tear.

Giants pitcher Blade Tidwell went on the 15-day IL with what is described as a high-grade UCL sprain in his right elbow.

The Rangers placed DH Joc Pederson on the 10-day IL with a left wrist fracture, retroactive to September 19.

Athletics infielder Max Muncy was placed on the 10-day IL with left knee inflammation.

J.T. Ginn (elbow impingement) and Cal Quantrill (lat strain) were transferred to the 60-day IL.

Peyton Gray (Rangers), Michael Helman (Rangers), Devin Williams (Mets), Kirby Yates (Pirates), Joshua Kuroda-Grauer (Athletics), and Jazz Chisholm Jr. (Yankees) were activated off the IL.

One last note: the Cubs did not place Alex Bregman on the IL. Bregman suffered facial fractures two days ago.

Rehab assignment

Diamondbacks pitcher Ryan Thompson tossed a scoreless inning for Double-A Amarillo.

Other notes

In other injury-related news for the Yankees, Ryan Weathers tossed a bullpen session in between games on the 22nd.

Willson Contreras (hand) and Xavier Edwards (thumb) were out of their clubs’ respective lineups.
