It’s been a tough week for the Yankees’ offense. And that continued on the 29th, as not only were the Yankees not able to match the Tigers, but the team also saw Jazz Chisholm Jr. removed due to injury. Plus, Byron Buxton and Jeremy Pena were also out as the Twins and Astros started a series in Houston.
Chisholm Jr. removed
The Yankees saw infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. removed from the team’s game on June 29. Chisholm was taken out after he collided with outfielder Jasson Dominguez while the latter attempted to field a pop-up.
Per the team, he was examined by the head team physician and placed in concussion protocol.
Buxton out
Twins outfielder Byron Buxton did not play on June 29 due to right hip discomfort.
Manager Derek Shelton indicated that Buxton had an MRI done and the Twins are awaiting results from that. Shelton noted that, in his estimation, Buxton didn’t look right at the plate during Minnesota’s final game against the Rockies.
Pena going to injured list
While not official yet, Astros manager Joe Espada noted after the team’s game on the 29th that Jeremy Pena is going to the IL.
Pena was held on the 29th due to left leg discomfort. Afterwards, Espada indicated that Pena is currently dealing with a mild left calf strain.
