Several AL East teams lost notable players late in games on September 8. As for the Diamondbacks, slumping outfielder Corbin Carroll was out due to injury.

Carroll scratched

The Diamondbacks scratched Corbin Carroll from the team’s lineup on September 8 versus the Royals.

It was due to back discomfort.

Chisholm Jr. leaves

Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. was removed in the ninth inning due to a thumb injury.

Chisholm Jr.’s thumb was numb, per manager Aaron Boone, which came after he slid into second base during the eighth inning against the Rockies.

Henderson exits

Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson was removed late in the club’s contest versus the Guardians.

Henderson fouled a ball off his leg in the eighth inning.

IL moves

Rays infielder Taylor Walls was placed on the 10-day IL with a right hip flexor strain.

The Nationals placed pitcher Matt Waldron on the 15-day IL with chest inflammation, retroactive to September 5.

Pirates pitcher Isaac Mattson was placed on the 15-day IL with a right hip impingement.

Rehab assignments

Tanner Houck was on rehab with Double-A Portland. Houck came out of the bullpen for the Sea Dogs, tossing 20 pitches over 0.2 IP. He walked two and charged with one earned run.

Also in that game, Mets reliever Cionel Perez tossed a scoreless inning for Double-A Binghamton.

Diamondbacks pitcher Ryne Nelson struck out two over a scoreless inning for Triple-A Reno.

Pirates 1B/OF Ryan O’Hearn started at first base for Triple-A Indianapolis. He went 1-for-3 with a strikeout, starting at first base.

Rangers third baseman Josh Jung went 2-for-5 as the DH for Triple-A Round Rock.

Padres outfielder Miguel Andujar went 1-for-4 with an RBI for Triple-A El Paso.

Twins outfielder Austin Martin went 1-for-4 with a strikeout for Triple-A El Paso.

Other notes

Cardinals infielder JJ Wetherholt is aiming to be activated during the club’s upcoming homestand (h/t St. Louis Post-Dispatch).

Jake Bauers (shin), Jac Caglianone (elbow), and Chase DeLauter (wrist) were out of their respective starting lineups.
