The Mets have been without shortstop Francisco Lindor over the first week of Grapefruit League games in 2026 as he recovered from hamate bone surgery. However, Lindor is close to the next stage of his recovery and could ramp up over the coming days.

Lindor gets stitches removed

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza stated that Francisco Lindor had his stitches removed after the hamate bone surgery he needed earlier this month. The belief, per the team, is that he could begin to get going in the next two to three days.

That timeline gives Lindor roughly a month to prepare before the start of the 2026 regular season.

Doyle scratched

Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle was not in the team’s lineup on February 25. Per the team, Doyle is out thanks to wrist inflammation (h/t MLB.com).

While Doyle won’t start, outfielder Mickey Moniak was penciled in as the team’s designated hitter and will bat leadoff for the Rockies. Moniak, who was dealing with oblique tightness earlier in the month, had not played in a Cactus League game before the 25th.

Crawford dealing with shoulder problem

Per Mariners manager Dan Wilson, J.P. Crawford has yet to play in a Cactus League game this season thanks to a shoulder injury.

The good news for the Mariners is that the issue is not considered a serious one. Wilson noted that Crawford is expected to make his spring debut at some point this week (h/t SeattleSports.com)

Other notes

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo stated that pitcher Merrill Kelly won’t be ready for the start of the 2026 season. Kelly, who’s been dealing with a back injury, underwent additional testing earlier this week.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch noted that pitcher Troy Melton is dealing with general arm soreness (h/t Detroit Free Press).

Twins pitcher Joe Ryan threw from 90 feet down in camp, days after he was diagnosed with back inflammation (h/t MLB.com).
