Just days after Elly De La Cruz returned from the injured list, the Reds infielder suffered an injury in Pittsburgh. Additionally, the Yankees provided a not-so-specific update on Aaron Judge, who’s missed the last few weeks with a fractured rib.

De La Cruz suffered ankle injury

Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz suffered a sprained ankle on June 28 on a play where he went down while running out of the batter’s box. He was not removed from the contest.

Manager Terry Francona indicated that De La Cruz will be re-evaluated on June 29 (h/t Fox 19).

It wasn’t a good day for the Reds by any means. Aside from the loss, Eugenio Suarez left after he was hit by a pitch from Mitch Keller in the hand/wrist area. Suarez noted that the X-rays didn’t show anything due to swelling.

No re-imaging set for Judge yet

Yankees manager Aaron Boone noted on the 28th that Aaron Judge has yet to receive re-imaging after his fractured rib injury. He also didn’t know when that would ultimately occur. Boone noted that Judge has been working out in the weight room in his rehab.

Back on June 5, the Yankees sent out a statement that Judge would be re-evaluated in four to six weeks.

IL moves

Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford was placed on the 10-day IL with a left hamstring strain.

Reds outfielder Blake Dunn was placed on the IL with a right elbow strain.

Roman Anthony (wrist/hand) was transferred to the 60-day IL.

Rehab assignments

The Reds had two relievers pitch for Triple-A Louisville on June 28. Hunter Greene struck out four over 6.1 scoreless innings (82 pitches), while Emilio Pagan tossed a scoreless inning.

Greene averaged 99 MPH and topped out at 100 MPH.

Brewers pitcher Logan Henderson struck out seven over three scoreless innings (50 pitches) for Triple-A Nashville. Henderson averaged 93 MPH and topped out at 94 MPH.

Padres infielder Jake Cronenworth went 0-4 with a strikeout for Triple-A El Paso.

Twins pitcher Bailey Ober allowed seven hits (one HR) and three earned runs over 3.1 IP (57 pitches) for High-A Cedar Rapids. Ober struck out one batter.

Nationals pitcher Trevor Williams allowed two earned runs and four hits across 0.2 IP (26 pitches) for Low-A Fredericksburg.

Other notes

Royals OF Jac Caglianone was held out on June 28 due to groin soreness.

Rays infielder Yandy Diaz suffered a left shoulder strain against the Diamondbacks. Diaz indicated after that game that he’s optimistic that he’ll play in two days.

Tyler Soderstrom (hip) and Jacob Wilson (shoulder) were held out on the 28th by the Athletics.
