The Yankees gave an update on Aaron Judge late on June 4, hours after their series ended with the Guardians. It wasn’t exactly the news that Yankees fans likely wanted to hear, as Judge is looking at an indefinite absence thanks to a revealed stress fracture.

Judge out with stress fracture

Per an official team announcement, Aaron Judge was diagnosed with a rib stress fracture. This came after he sat out the entire series against the Guardians. There’s no clear timeline on a potential return but the Yankees indicated that he will be re-examined in four to six weeks after he undergoes a period of rest.

The Yankees stated that Judge is expected back at some point this season.

Burnes hoping for September return

On June 3, the Diamondbacks confirmed that Corbin Burnes suffered a teres major strain that squelched his scheduled rehab assignment.

Now, Burnes is hoping for a return to the Majors in September. He was originally looking at coming back around the All-Star break.

IL moves

The Rangers activated Corey Seager, putting him in line to return on June 5 for Texas.

Sean Murphy (fractured finger), Jonathan India (shoulder), and Trevor Story (sports hernia) were transferred to the 60-day IL.

Rehab assignments

Blue Jays pitcher Dylan Cease struck out six over four innings (75 pitches) for Triple-A Buffalo. Cease gave up two home runs in the game and averaged 97 MPH on his fastball.

Dodgers reliever Evan Phillips struck out one and walked one over .2 IP with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Guardians infielder Gabriel Arias went 0-1 with a walk for Triple-A Columbus.

Other notes

Both Ildemaro Vargas and Max Muncy left the Diamondbacks/Dodgers game on June 4 after the two collided with one another at first base.
