Hamstring trouble has limited Kyle Stowers this season, and that issue popped up again on September 3. As for the Dodgers, Shohei Ohtani was absent from the club’s lineup against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Ohtani not in lineup

Dodgers TWP Shohei Ohtani was not in the lineup against the Cardinals on September 3, as he battled biceps and knee soreness.

At this point, it doesn’t sound like Ohtani will go on the IL; manager Dave Roberts, though, indicated that it’s not “impossible” to imagine him being placed there. However, it is another development, just after the club indicated uncertainty as to whether Ohtani will pitch again this year.

Updates on Blue Jays’ injuries

Blue Jays manager John Schneider indicated that Anthony Santander could play in Triple-A Buffalo next week on rehab assignment. The OF/DH has yet to play in any game this season.

As for Yesavage, Schneider expressed confidence that Trey Yesavage will return again this season (h/t Sportsnet). Yesavage is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on the 4th.

IL moves

The Pirates placed pitcher Kirby Yates on the injured list with a right shoulder impingement.

Mariners outfielder Brennen Davis was summoned from the Minors and subsequently placed on the 60-day IL with a hamstring strain.

Giants pitcher Keaton Winn (elbow neuritis) was transferred to the 60-day IL.

Rehab assignments

Rockies third baseman Kyle Karros went 1-for-2 with a walk and a strikeout for Double-A Hartford.

Nationals reliever Richard Lovelady allowed two earned runs over 1.1 innings for Double-A Harrisburg.

Other notes

Cubs pitcher Ben Brown is done for 2026, per manager Craig Counsell.

Rangers pitcher Nathan Eovaldi threw a 25-pitch bullpen session (h/t Dallas Morning News).

Mariners infielder Brendan Donovan (concussion) is not cleared to play just yet (h/t Seattle Times).

Marlins 1B Kyle Stowers was removed against the Royals with hamstring tightness.

Ceddanne Rafaela (quad) was not in the Red Sox’s lineup on September 3.
