It’s been a tough year for the Blue Jays. Not only have several key pieces not produced as expected but several others, like Anthony Santander and Addison Barger, have been out for most, if not all, of 2026. In Barger’s case, he won’t return this season.

Soto removed vs. Dodgers

The Mets removed outfielder Juan Soto from the club’s opening contest against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the sixth inning. Per the team, it was due to left calf tightness.

Interim manager Andy Green indicated that Soto will get an MRI on that calf on the 25th.

Barger done for year

The Blue Jays won’t get Addison Barger back for the rest of the year. The team announced that Barger will need season-ending elbow surgery, either a brace or UCL reconstruction surgery, on the 24th.

His recovery is expected to go through the start of the 2027 season.

IL moves

Phillies catcher Rafael Marchan went on the 10-day IL with left knee patellar tendinitis. Additionally, Brad Keller, done for 2026 with a UCL tear, was transferred to the 60-day IL.

The Pirates placed catcher Rafael Flores (concussion) on the 7-day IL.

Rehab assignments

Pirates catcher Endy Rodriguez went 1-3 with an RBI for Triple-A Indianapolis.

Reds shortstop Matt McLain went 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored for Triple-A Louisville.

Nationals pitcher Trevor Williams struck out five over 4.1 IP (64 pitches) for Triple-A Buffalo. Williams allowed six earned runs and seven hits, four of which were home runs.

Other notes

Rangers shortstop Corey Seager took four at-bats in a live BP session (h/t MLB.com). Josh Jung (calf), meanwhile, didn’t play against the Mariners.

Mariners infielder J.P. Crawford (wrist) sat out against the Rangers.

Max Meyer, currently on the IL, will not throw for two weeks per the club.
