June 30 was not a bad day for the NL East at all. Four of the five teams in the division won on the 30th. Cristopher Sanchez and Cade Cavalli both tossed gems, while the Marlins’ offense took off in Colorado against the Rockies.
Sanchez brilliant for Phillies
Cristopher Sanchez continued his push towards a potential first NL Cy Young Award, as the lefty struck out nine over seven scoreless innings to help the Phillies win 8-0.
Sanchez lowered his ERA to a clean 2.00 figure after a very strong outing against the Pirates.
Trea Turner and Kyle Schwarber each had two hits, as did Bryson Stott. Turner hit his ninth home run of the year.
Cavalli strikes out 13
It was a chippy game in Boston, as Willson Contreras and Cade Cavalli‘s war of words led to the benches clearing in Fenway Park. But in the end, it was Cavalli and the Nationals who came out on top.
Cavalli struck out 13 over seven innings for the Nationals. James Wood had three hits, while CJ Abrams drilled his 13th home run of the season.
Tigers tag Schlittler
Cam Schlittler gave up six runs, including four home runs, against the Tigers. Detroit defeated the Yankees 9-3.
Detroit hit three home runs off Schlittler in the first, as Kerry Carpenter, Riley Greene, and Spencer Torkelson all went deep in Yankee Stadium. Greene added a second one during the third inning off the righty.
Tarik Skubal struck out nine over six innings to pick up his fourth win of the season.
Marlins score 14 in Colorado
Eury Perez struck out eight in Colorado for the Marlins, who posted 14 runs in a blowout victory over the Rockies.
Rookie Owen Caissie hit his 10th home run of the 2026 campaign, while Javier Sanoja and Joe Mack also hit home runs. Kyle Stowers had three hits, while Griffin Conine and Xavier Edwards had four on the day.
Wrobleski wins 10th game
Justin Wrobleski struck out 11 over seven innings to earn his 10th victory of the 2026 season. The Dodgers won the second game of their series with the Athletics, 9-3.
Yet again, it was a good day for the Dodgers’ offense. Tommy Edman hit his first home run of 2026 and drove in four, part of a four-hit game for the infielder. Mookie Betts had three hits, while Andy Pages & Freddie Freeman picked up two.
Another note on the game: Dave Roberts became the fastest manager in MLB history to 1,000 career wins.
