Before the release of the MLB The Show 26 July Lightning content, Sony will release a new title update on July 2. It’s a fairly significant one, as three “problem pitchers” in the game are receiving highly-requested updates.

Here is what’s in the July 2 update for MLB The Show 26:
General
- Fixed a bug where some users would load the default roster rather than the latest live roster when booting the game.
Gameplay
- Fixed a bug where Grant Taylor’s pitching animation would not release the ball in the proper position.
- Changed pitching animations for Josh Hader and Michael King
- NOTE: This change will occur after the content update around noon PT on 7/2.
- Fixed a bug where some users were unable to pick off runners on first base after selecting a secondary pitch.
Head-to-Head
- Fixed a specific freeze that could occur when batting and using the quick menu.
Diamond Dynasty
- Fixed a bug where the ‘open packs’ counter icon could be incorrect in the menus.
- Fixed an unhandled server exception that could occur when entering the Stats and Standings dashboard.
Franchise:
- Fixed an issue that could prevent the user from offering the max contract salary to a Free Agent.
Equipment
- Fixed a bug where Adidas Ultraboost Light cleats had their customization options incorrectly locked.

The big one here is that several pitchers are receiving updates, namely three who’ve become the bane of many Diamond Dynasty players’ existence in recent months.
One is Grant Taylor, who is one of three pitchers who will get a bug fix. Out of the windup, the release point of his right hand would not match up with the ball placement, causing a glitched visual.
Sony also promised pitching animation changes for Josh Hader & Michael King. Both pitchers have offerings (Hader’s two-seam, King’s sinker) that have been theorized to automatically induce contact swings.
Additionally, more likeness updates are coming with the July 2 update. Those add to the many that were added back on June 16.
This update will go live for all consoles on July 2 at 7 AM ET.
