This weekend, the Reds will get Hunter Greene back. But in a season where the team has struggled to maintain consistency, Chase Burns has been the backbone of the team’s rotation. And that work continued on July 2, as Burns shut down the Brewers’ offense in Milwaukee.

Reds defeat Brewers

Chase Burns and the Reds defeated the Brewers 7-2.

Jacob Misiorowski gave up five runs, although only one was earned. That was a Sal Stewart home run in the first. Jake Bauers made an error in the fourth, which got the ball rolling for a four-run inning by Cincinnati.

Still, Misiorowski ended the day with 10 more strikeouts.

Chase Burns, meanwhile, struck out four and allowed two earned runs over six innings.

Cardinals finish series with win

The Cardinals won 11-5 to finish out a series against the Braves.

St. Louis jutted out to an early lead thanks to a Jordan Walker three-run shot. Dustin May, however, left due to injury in the first and was charged with five runs in the first.

But in the seventh, the Cardinals scored seven to pull ahead for good.

Miller, Mariners shutout LA

Seattle finished out a series against the Angels with a 1-0 victory.

No team had a hit until the bottom of the sixth when J.P. Crawford blooped one into the outfield. The lone run was thanks to a Cal Raleigh RBI single, as he drove in Raleigh.

Walbert Urena finished with six strikeouts over 5.2 IP. Bryce Miller, who had his no-no broken up by Nolan Schanuel, struck out eight over seven scoreless innings.
