The final week before the 2026 All-Star Game break kicked off with several important intradivisional matchups. St. Louis started a lengthy series with the Brewers, and the first game went to the current NL Central leaders. Meanwhile, in St. Petersburg, the Yankees took one from the Rays.

Sanchez roughed up in KC

Phillies ace Cristopher Sanchez conceded nine earned runs and allowed three home runs on July 6, as the Royals won 15-1.

The Royals’ offense had been dormant, at least it felt like, for several days. But the team broke out on the 6th, as the club clobbered four home runs, one each from Luke Maile, Salvador Perez, Tyler Tolbert, and Lane Thomas.

Tolbert had a five-hit day for the Royals. All but two starters had at least two hits for the Royals. Kansas City picked up 22 hits in total.

Yankees win 50th game of 2026

Cam Schlittler struck out eight and allowed just one run over eight innings to help the Yankees win game #50 on the season, 5-1.

Rays starter Griffin Jax pitched very well, as he struck out 10 over five innings. But he gave up three runs, all of which came off a three-run shot from ex-Ray Jose Caballero. Cabellero would tally another home run in the eighth off reliever Chris Roycroft.

Ben Rice hit his 25th home run in the ninth.

Brewers notch comeback win

The Brewers scored four in the seventh inning to take the first of five games between Milwaukee and the Cardinals this week.

St. Louis had a 3-0 lead into the seventh, as Masyn Winn‘s RBI single in the sixth gave the Cardinals a three-run cushion. However, in the seventh, David Hamilton‘s two-run double and Brice Turang‘s two-run single pulled the Brewers ahead.

Shane Drohan gave up one earned run over six innings to pick up his fourth win of 2026.
