Yet again, the Red Sox were able to extend their now-14-game winning streak with some late-inning magic. Meanwhile, in the National League, there was a shift atop the standings in the Senior Circuit.
Red Sox win on Durbin’s home run
In the seventh inning, the Orioles took a 5-4 lead thanks to a Tyler O’Neill RBI groundout. But that lead didn’t last long.
Ceddanne Rafaela drove in the tying run in the eighth inning via a single. And in the eighth, Caleb Durbin‘s shot over the Green Monster gave the Red Sox a 6-5 lead that wouldn’t be relinquished.
The Red Sox improved to 51-48.
Dodgers fall to Philly
Trea Turner atoned for a first-inning error, as he hit two home runs to help the Phillies beat the Dodgers 10-7.
Turner had three hits and five RBI, part of a big night against Emmet Sheehan and the Dodgers’ pitching staff. Bryson Stott had two hits. Brandon Marsh, Derek Hill, and Bryce Harper each hit home runs.
As for the Dodgers, Mookie Betts had four hits, two of which were home runs.
Brewers spoil Peralta’s return
Freddy Peralta returned to Milwaukee for the first time since the trade that sent him to the Mets in January. And Peralta’s down 2026 season continued.
Peralta conceded seven runs over 5.1 IP, as the Brewers defeated the Mets 8-3. Jacob Misiorowski went four innings in his return after he was temporarily shut down due to fatigue. Misiorowski struck out six.
Andrew Vaughn and Joey Ortiz each hit home runs, while Cooper Pratt belted his first career MLB home run.
With that victory, the Brewers moved a half-game ahead of the Dodgers for the top spot in the National League.
Guardians club seven home runs
The Guardians hit seven home runs, six off Joe Ryan, to take the first game of their series with the Twins, 13-4.
Brayan Rocchio and Rhys Hoskins went back-to-back in the first. It was the first of two home runs on the night for Hoskins. Patrick Bailey and Travis Bazzana each went deep, while Petey Halpin belted his first two big-league home runs.
Tanner Bibee struck out five over six innings, allowing two runs.
Yankees beat Pirates
In what was a wild and chippy game, the Yankees defeated the Pirates 8-5.
New York put up four in the first, as errors from Brandon Lowe and Bryan Reynolds pushed home the first one for the Yankees. A Jazz Chisholm Jr. three-run shot made it a 4-0 game — but the Pirates didn’t go away.
Pittsburgh posted five unanswered runs, highlighted by an Esmerlyn Valdez two-run shot. But the Yankees added four more in the third. Chisholm Jr. added a second home run that inning, which gave him 16 on the season.
