In mid-July 2026, Major League Baseball announced the league schedule for all 30 teams, including some information on special events scheduled for the year. Plus, a look at when the 2027 campaign — at least as of now — will start next season.

When is MLB Opening Day in 2027?

Tentatively, MLB Opening Day 2027 is scheduled to be on March 24, 2027, for two clubs participating in the scheduled standalone Opening Night contest. The league did this in 2026 when the Yankees and Giants opened in San Francisco.

Yet again, it’ll mark the earliest domestic start for any Major League Baseball season.

For the rest of the league, the 2027 regular-season schedule will start on the 25th.

Notable events

Right now, we don’t know a ton about what specific speciality games will take place during the 2027 season.

We do know that the 2027 All-Star Game is scheduled to be held in Chicago, Illinois, as Wrigley Field was selected to host it back in 2025. The date is set for July 13, 2027.

Rivalry Weekend 2027 is scheduled to run from July 15-18, 2027.

Also, expect other tentpole events like the Home Run Derby, plus the yearly tradition of the Little League Classic.

The pending lockout

Of course, all of this will depend on whether the league and the players’ association agree to a new collective bargaining agreement. The current one will expire at the end of the 2026 campaign.
