The Brewers may be without Abner Uribe for one game down the line, as the reliever was suspended one game on May 29. And as for another NL Central team, Justin Lawrence was DFA’d by the Pirates.

Uribe suspended for taunt

Major League Baseball announced that Brewers pitcher Abner Uribe was suspended one game for a taunt he made towards the Cardinals’ dugout this past week.

After Uribe tossed a called third strike to Alec Burleson, Uribe did a “crotch chop” taunt, similar to the one used by ex-wrestling faction D-Generation X.

Uribe will appeal.

Lawrence DFA’d

The Pirates designated Justin Lawrence for assignment.

Lawrence was an important part of the Pirates’ bullpen last season. But this year, despite 25 strikeouts over 22 innings, he walked 12 and gave up four home runs this season.

His 1.6 HR/9 would stand as a career low for Lawrence, who pitched in parts of four seasons with the Rockies before he joined the Pirates.

Tyler Gilbert (White Sox), Jimmy Crooks (Cardinals), Nolan Hoffman (Phillies), Kody Funderburk (Twins), Josh Ekness (Marlins), Anthony Molina (Braves), and Eric Cerantola (Royals) were recalled.
