Former top pitching prospect Nate Pearson has been moved around a bit over the past few years. The righty found a new home on July 22, as the Astros dealt him to the Kansas City Royals for a Minor League reliever.
Royals make moves
The Royals acquired Nate Pearson via trade on July 22, as the former Blue Jays prospect was shipped to Kansas City after he was previously DFA’d.
Pearson walked 11 over 8.2 Minor League innings, and 12 over 20 innings with the Astros. Originally signed with the intent of making him a starter, Pearson worked exclusively as a reliever this season.
Kansas City traded Max Martin, a 10th-round pick from UC Irvine in 2025. Martin is a heavy groundball pitcher (50% GB% from 6/22-7/20), part of a season where he only allowed one home run over 40.1 IP.
Outfielder Kameron Misner was designated for assignment.

Spencer Jones (Yankees), Alec Gamboa (Red Sox), Mason Barnett (Athletics), CJ Van Eyk (Blue Jays), Josh Walker (Orioles), Yohendrick Pinango (Blue Jays), Hunter Dobbins (Cardinals), Noah Murdock (Pirates), and Johnathan Rodriguez (Orioles) were recalled.
JR Ritchie (Braves), Lazaro Estrada (Blue Jays), Kervin Castro (Yankees), and Kahlil Watson (Guardians) were optioned to the Minors.

The Tigers signed catcher Carlos Perez to a Minor League deal.
