It’s extension season for pitchers, or at least it seems that way. Just a couple of days after Chase Burns reportedly received a pre-arbitration deal, the Orioles locked up Kyle Bradish. The Yankees, meanwhile, protected reliever Bradley Hanner.

Yankees add Hanner to 40-man

The Yankees are keeping Bradley Hanner, as the right-hander was selected from the Minors and added to the 40-man roster.

Hanner had a fine season in Triple-A before the move. The 27-year-old struck out 50 over 40.2 IP, posted a 1.99 ERA, and walked 16 over that span.

The analytics also paint a better picture. His fastball, which ran up to 96 MPH, had a Whiff% over 27% this season with the RailRiders. And the sweeper, a slower pitch that sat around 80 MPH, and a swing-and-miss rate above 43%. Only two batted balls were considered barrels off Hanner, who conceded just one home run.

He was optioned to Triple-A after the move.

Bradish extended

The Orioles announced a five-year extension for Kyle Bradish, the 29-year-old who is in his fifth big-league season.

Bradish, acquired way back in 2019 in a trade for Dylan Bundy, has been one of the Orioles’ best starters since his debut in 2022. He posted a 3.61 ERA and struck out 106 over 107.1 IP.

Lazaro Estrada (Blue Jays), Will Dion (Guardians), Brendon Little (Blue Jays), Jose Corniell (Rangers), Blake Perkins (Brewers), Logan Allen (Guardians), and Adrian Del Castillo (D-Backs) were recalled.
