On March 10, 2025, the Sony San Diego (SDS) team unveiled Season 3 of Negro Leagues Storylines, which will be featured in MLB The Show 25. For those new to the franchise, Negro League Storylines highlights some of the greats of the league, through narrated video and Moments that replicate career accomplishments. Six new legends are among the confirmed Season 3 players.

Here’s a look at the list of the Negro Leagues Storylines scheduled for MLB The Show 25, the third installment of the feature:

These names were confirmed on March 10.
It’s an eclectic list of players, highlighted by Cool Papa Bell and Oscar Charleston.
Papa Bell was a feared switch-hitter and stolen base threat. Per official Negro League records, Bell had a career slash line of .325/.394/.446 with 285 career stolen bases.
Charleston, meanwhile, won three triple crowns as an active player and hit over .400 three times.
It’s worth noting a few things about Storylines. Not all Storylines moments & features will be available at launch. Per Sony San Diego, Cool Papa Bell, Bullet Rogan, and Turkey Stearnes will be available when the game launches.
This is how it worked in MLB The Show 24, as there was a staggered roll-out to allow for continuing content in the game.
The MLB The Show 25 development team stated there will be a free content update in April 2024, which will add in more Storylines content.
Past Negro League featured legends
Additionally, SDS stated all Negro League legends featured in MLB The Show 23 & 24 will be in MLB The Show 25. For a refresher, those names are as followed:
- Hank Aaron
- Andy Cooper
- Leon Day
- Larry Doby
- John Donaldson
- Martin Dihigo
- Rap Dixon
- Bill Foster
- Rube Foster
- Josh Gibson
- Buck Leonard
- Willie Mays
- Jose Mendez

While the above players won’t have their Storylines content playable — that stays in the game each player was originally featured in — the above names can be used as playable characters in single-player action and Diamond Dynasty.
Keep in mind some of these players, like Aaron, Doby, Robinson, and Mays, were already in the game before the introduction of Storylines.
