Spring Training kicks off this week for Major League teams, and each team will have notable prospects in camp as non-roster invites. The Mets confirmed the entirety of their non-roster invitees on February 10. It’s a list that includes breakout performers from 2023 and 2024, as well as former first-round picks.

The notable prospects headed to Mets Spring Training in 2025 are Brandon Sproat, Jett Williams, and Ryan Clifford.

Sproat, a former Florida Gator, broke out last season in his first year in the Minors. The 24-year-old struck out 131 over 116.1 IP across three levels, finishing at Triple-A Syracuse. He also showed good control, with 42 walks in that span. Control was an issue for Sproat in college.

The right-hander has a booming fastball and may very well factor into the Mets’ rotation plans later in 2025.

Williams, arguably the Mets’ top prospect heading into 2024, only played 33 games last season. Wrist surgery kept him out for most of the year, and Williams made up for lost time by playing in the Arizona Fall League. However, Williams hit just .215/.358/.298 (.656 OPS0 in those 33 contests.

The 21-year-old still has plenty of upside. A natural shortstop, the Mets got him action in the outfield back in 2023 to prepare for a potential move there full-time. Williams has pop and a quick bat, very evident during his breakout campaign two years ago. But perhaps his best asset is his eye. He walked 104 times in 2023.

Clifford, acquired in the Justin Verlander trade from Houston, is a slugging first baseman/outfielder with 43 home runs between 2023-24. He’s a patient bat with premium bat speed. However, he’s a big man and likely projects as a 1B/DH down the line.

Drew Gilbert, also acquired in the Verlander trade, will join Clifford.

There are some other notable prospects headed to Port St. Lucie.

Blade Tidwell broke out two years with Brooklyn (A) but his stock took a hit in 2024. Tidwell walked 53 over 80 frames with Syracuse last year, conceding more hard-hit contact and striking out 77.

Former first-round pick Kevin Parada has yet to hit well at the pro level. Parada, thought to be a polished bat three years ago, struck out 153 times and posted a .663 OPS with Binghamton (AA) in 2024.

Other names confirmed to Mets Spring Training on the 10th include Yacksel Rios, Chris Devenski, Ty Adcock, Dominic Hamel, Luke Ritter, and Hayden Senger.

This list adds on to the players previously signed and named as non-roster invitees. Former Cub Adbert Alzolay and ex-Blue Jay Genesis Cabrera were previously signed to Minor League deals this offseason.

Other notables include Donovan Walton, Rafael Ortega, Chris Williams, Luis De Los Santos, Jakson Reetz, former top prospect Alex Ramirez, and Joey Meneses.

Meneses didn’t come close to replicating his 2022 results in either 2023 or 2024, although he hit enough in the former year to keep his starting role with Washington. However, he slashed .231/.291/.302 (.593 OPS) over 75 games before being sent to Rochester (AAA).

Make sure to check out who the Cubs and Padres have in camp as non-roster invitees.
