With Spring Training near, MLB teams have finalizing which players will head to camp as non-roster invitees. The Giants announced their list on February 7, one that’s headlined by Bryce Eldridge, a breakout star from 2024 who’s on the cusp of heading to San Francisco.
The most notable name among the non-roster list is Bryce Eldridge, the Giants’ 2023 first-round pick. Eldridge was a two-way player in high school but never pitched since San Francisco picked him. The bat, however, carried him all the way to Triple-A last season, which started down in San Jose (A).
Eldridge hit .291/.374/.516 (.890 OPS) with 23 home runs and 52 extra-base hits last season, between the four levels. The 20-year-old, though, played just 17 games outside of A-ball. He finished 2024 by hitting .293 (.860 OPS) with two home runs in the Arizona Fall League.
The 6’7” infielder showcased easy plus power and profiles as a middle-of-the-lineup bat.
Aside from Eldridge, the Giants aren’t bringing many of their top prospects not on the 40-man roster. San Francisco will only have six hitters, two catchers and four primary infielders, headed to Arizona as non-roster invites.
Additionally, the Giants confirmed that Antonio Jimenez, Cole Waites, Helcris Olivarez, Juan Mercedes, Justin Garza, Joel Peguero, Raymond Burgos, Christian Koss, and ex-Tiger Sergio Alcantara will join Eldridge.
The Giants also invited several former Major Leaguers, including Miguel Del Pozo, Jake Lamb, Enny Romero, Ethan Small, Joey Lucchesi, and Max Stassi.
Perhaps the most interesting name of the bunch is Lucchesi, the former Padre and Met who pitched well in spurts but also dealt with injury problems throughout his career. Lucchesi only made two MLB starts last season, spending most of 2024 in Triple-A.
Make sure to check the prospects the Chicago Cubs will bring to Spring Training this mont.
