The Brewers finalized several moves on January 17, on what was a busy day across MLB. Milwaukee signed former Ray Elvin Rodriguez, and confirmed a list of prospects headed to big league Spring Training next month. Two of their marquee names, Cooper Pratt and Jacob Misiorowski, are on the list.

The most notable name among the Spring Training non-roster invites is Jacob Misiorowski, arguably the best prospect in the Brewers’ system. Misiorowski struck out 127 batters over 97.1 frames last season, finishing 2024 in Triple-A. Not to mention, the 22-year-old could hardly be touched, as opposing batters hit .167 off him.

Misiorowski possesses a plus-plus fastball, one that sits near 100 MPH, along with impressive secondary offerings. The key will be whether he can command it, as Misiorowski walked 60 along the way.

The other big name among the prospects headed to big league camp is Cooper Pratt, a sixth-round pick back in 2023. Pratt signed thanks toa $1.35MM signing bonus, well above the slot. He hit well in his first full season, with a .277/.362/.402 slash line with eight home runs and 27 stolen bases.

Pratt finished last year in High-A and only played 23 games there. He’ll likely start 2025 back in Wisconsin.

Other names going to big league camp are Luis Lara, Darrien Miller, Craig Yoho, as well as former Major Leaguer Easton McGee. McGee missed all of 2024 thanks to injury but did pitch briefly in 2022 and 2023.

The Brewers also DFA’d J.B. Bukauskas. Bukauskas pitched for the Brewers briefly last season. The former first-round pick did well, as he struck out six over six and yielded just one run. However, he hit the IL with a lat strain in April and didn’t return.

The move was necessitated, as the Brewers signed Elvin Rodriguez to a Major League contract.

Milwaukee is one of several teams that have already announced their non-roster invitees for Spring Training. The Brewers joined the Guardians, Phillies, Cardinals, and Astros, among others.
