On August 26, 2025, Major League Baseball announced the schedule ahead for the 2026 campaign. While the season won’t technically start as early as it did it in 2024 and 2025, the 2026 campaign will have an early domestic start. Here’s a look at Opening Day information, plus other schedule information.
When is MLB Opening Day in 2026?
The league confirmed that the 2026 regular season will start on March 25, 2026. Just one game will take place that day: the Yankees will face the Giants in Oracle Park in San Francisco.
This will be the earliest domestic start to a MLB season.
Both the Yankees and Giants have made it a habit of meeting early in the season, as the two teams will have played in March or April every season between 2023 and 2026, except 2024. The two teams, formerly rivals that frequently fought in the World Series, opened up their respective 2023 seasons against one another.
The remaining 28 teams will begin the 2026 campaign on March 26, 2026.

Notable events
Major League Baseball will conduct the 2026 MLB All-Star Game on July 14, 2026, in Philadelphia. This will coincide with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence’s completion.
The Athletics will play two series in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the team will move to beginning in 2028. Those series will take place on June 8-10, 2026, and June 12-14. The Brewers and Rockies will face the Athletics, respectively, in those series.
Additionally, a report from the New York Times indicated that Major League Baseball will look to conduct the Field of Dreams event from Dyersville, Iowa, the site of the 2021 and 2022 events.
That report indicated that it would be between the Phillies and the Twins. Those two teams are set to meet between August 14-16, 2026. Minnesota will be the host team for all three games of that series. Meaning, if that report is correct, the Twins would host the event.
