Wild Card in MLB The Show 23
Should a player attempt to edit a roster that is not eligible to be used in online play, a user may be prompted to activate a ‘Wild Card.’

Before we get into how to activate a Wild Card in MLB The Show 23, let’s quickly go over what this concept is in Diamond Dynasty.
This year, San Diego Studio introduced Sets to Diamond Dynasty. Throughout each Season in MLB The Show 23, the requirements for which Sets would be allowed in online Ranked play, as well as various single-player game modes, would change.
For example, Season 2 gave players the option to use players from Set 1 & 2. Season 3, however, took Set 1 out of the equation. However, Diamond Dynasty players have the option to use one card from an ineligible set via the Wild Card.
The simplest ways to activate the Wild Card in MLB The Show are to either delete the existing lineup, generate one with the requirements, and then add in the Wild Card, or just add one to the existing lineup. The game will prompt users to set a card from the an inactive Set as the Wild Card. The game will indicate which card is a Wild Card with a ‘Wild’ symbol above the item.
Whichever route one takes, just make that there is a check mark in the box at the top of the screen. This indicates that the team is eligible.

Now, we should note that as of this writing, the menus are a bit chaotic. Here’s what we’re talking about.
If you plan on using cards from Set 1, 2, and 3, the first card that is added to an already-compliant lineup from a different set — even if it’s from an Active Set — becomes the Wild Card. Here’s an example.
Let’s say you’re in Season 3, where cards from Sets 1, 2, and 3 are in existence. If your team only has Set 1 & 2 players and you want to add a Set 3 player, the game will prompt the player to select that Set 3 card as the Wild Card. This is from our testing.

Thus, it’s a good idea to start with a fresh lineup and generate a Squad that meets the season requirements. Then, just add a card from an inactive Set (i.e. Set 1) manually and the game should prompt you to activate it as a Wild Card.
The Wild Card can be either a pitcher or hitter, but players can use just one.
