Thanks to Seasons in MLB The Show 24, Diamond Dynasty will look significantly different come Season 2. But when exactly will the second season of Diamond Dynasty start, and what changes are set to come with the reset? Here’s what you should know.
Start date of Season 2 in MLB The Show 24
The second season of MLB The Show 24 Diamond Dynasty will begin on June 7, 2024.
The new season will come with a fresh XP path, as well as new Team Affinity, Ranked, and Battle Royale rewards.
How Season 2 will work
On May 23, Sony San Diego released a blog post indicating how Season 2 will work and what changes are coming to Diamond Dynasty.
Even though Sets are technically no longer a thing in MLB The Show, Seasons work similarly. Thus, no cards from Season 1 will be eligible for Season 2 in Ranked Solo, although Season 1 items will be eligible for Ranked Co-Op, Battle Royale, Play vs. Friends and CPU, as well as select Events, Conquest maps, and Mini Seasons.
Players will be able to retain their Season 1 cards in inventory.
Only Season 2 and Core cards will be eligible for Season 2 Ranked Solo. Diamond Dynasty players can use up to four Wild Card slots for Season 1 cards. However, three of these slots can be unlocked through the Season 2 XP Path.
Sony San Diego also noted that it’s heard feedback regarding the slow progression from Season 1. Season 2 will reportedly have more XP found in Diamond Dynasty, the return of Head Start rewards, and the first boss pack in the second season will be found earlier in the XP Path.
How Head Start Rewards work in Season 2
Much like in MLB The Show 23, Sony will give players a head start with the upcoming season through aptly named Head Start Rewards. Included in the Head Start Rewards includes XP towards Season 2. And, Sony stated that those who completed every task for the Head Start Rewards will also receive enough XP to unlock the first Wild Card.
These are the tasks to get all Head Start Rewards for the second season:
- Get 100 Star Points and complete the Egg Hunt Program
- Get 100 Star Points and complete The Show Classics Program
- Get 150 Star Points and complete Season 1 Recap Program
- Collect eight Season 1 Awards cards and unlock 99 OVR Mookie Betts
- Collect 250 Season 1 cards and unlock 99 OVR C.C. Sabathia
Keep in mind that the programs listed above must be completed in full before the start of Season 2 at noon PT on June 7.
