The second season of MLB The Show 24 has arrived and so has four new Cornerstone Captains. Players can choose one of the four through a Cornerstone Captain Choice Pack found in the Packs folder. So, which Season 2 Cornerstone Captain card should you choose in MLB The Show 24? Let’s go over the four and our recommendations.

Cornerstone Captains and boosts

The four Season 2 Cornerstone Captain cards in MLB The Show 24 are 88 OVR, much like in Season 1. The four for Season 2 are Giancarlo Stanton, Luis Castillo, Rafael Devers, and Corbin Carroll.

Here’s a look at the boosts for each:

Corbin Carroll

Rafael Devers

Which one should you choose?

In our estimation, the Luis Castillo Cornerstone Captain is the best one to choose.

Our reasoning for that is this. One, players had weeks to accumulate Live Series cards in preparation for Season 2. Thus, good Live Series cards like Shohei Ohtani, Ketel Marte, Mike Trout, as well as cheaper cards like Corey Seager, Adolis Garcia, Pete Alonso, and William Contreras will get healthy hitting boosts. Not to mention, Corbin Burnes and Jacob deGrom’s Live Series cards, both of which are cheap, will also see a nice boost.

The Devers Captain card, though, is still very good and isn’t a bad option once Chapter 1 cards from Team Affinity 2 are unlocked.

Not only does Devers have a great swing but his boost will raise the attributes of Zack Collins, Bo Bichette, Jared Walsh, and Mark Canha, all from Chapter 1.

Just make sure to stack the bench with cards with low Defense attributes and prioritize players with good Reaction and Defense at second, short, and center field.

As for the other two, Chapter 1 didn’t see many cards from 2010-19 to be released to make Stanton a real threat. Sure, cards like Josh Hader and Mark Canha fit the bill. Still, there’s not a lot to work with.

Carroll’s boost, on the other hand, doesn’t raise the all-important Power stat.

For those unaware, we should note that the Cornerstone Captain card can be exchanged for a new one. Go to ‘Exchanges,’ followed by ‘Exchange Players,’ and then find the Season 2 Cornerstone Captain exchange.

Make use of this, as these Exchanges can be used even if a card has been locked for the Season 2 Collection. Thus, one can collect all four and make progress towards the Season 2 Collection rewards.
