How the 2026 MLB Wild Races Look With Two Weeks Left

Yes, there’s not much time left in the 2026 MLB regular season. Two weeks stand between the end of the year and a chance at winning it all come October. So, here’s a look at how the Wild Card teams and their schedules look.

American League

Blue Jays

Record: 73-74
Remaining Games: x6 vs. Orioles, x 3 vs. Tigers, x3 vs. Rangers, x3 vs. Reds

The Blue Jays are just one game behind the Guardians, and Toronto has an easier schedule ahead of them compared to the Guardians. As of now, no team that the Blue Jays will face for the regular season has a record above .500.

Toronto’s pitching staff has done well to this point in September, with a 3.36 ERA. But not a lot of strikeouts, with 57 over 77 innings. However, the offense, led by a collection of renegades like Brett Bateman and Nathan Lukes, plus Kazuma Okamoto and George Springer, has helped fuel this run.

Guardians

Record: 74-73
Remaining Games: x3 vs. Twins, x3 vs. White Sox, x3 vs. Athletics, x3 vs. Red Sox, x3 vs. Royals

Cleveland still has a shot at winning the AL Central, with their series against the White Sox next week looming large. But aside from those three games, some pivotal contests against the Twins and Red Sox.

Gavin Williams has been incredible over his last two starts. Williams struck out 24 over 13 innings, most in the Majors from August 29 through the start of September 10. If Cleveland is going to make it back to the playoffs, the pitching will have to get them there.

Orioles

Record: 71-76
Remaining Games: x6 vs. Blue Jays, x3 vs. Mets, x3 vs. Brewers, x3 vs. Yankees

After big losses to Colorado and Boston, the Orioles’ offense helped guide the club to victories over the Cleveland Guardians. That series win helped the O’s stay in it. Now what?

Pete Alonso has been one of baseball’s best hitters over the past few weeks. Coby Mayo, who hasn’t hit righties all that well, hit five home runs in his last 13 games. But if the O’s want to make it to the playoffs, Baltimore will need more than that.

Rangers

Record: 72-75
Remaining Games: x3 vs. Diamondbacks, x3 vs. Red Sox, x3 vs. Blue Jays, x3 vs. Mets, x3 vs. Twins

The Rangers spoiled an opportunity to make up some ground this week in Seattle. Now, Texas is three games back of the division, and two out of a Wild Card spot.

What makes things more complicated is that the Rangers have some very difficult games ahead.

Red Sox

Record: 80-67
Remaining Games: x3 vs. Royals, x3 vs. Rangers, x3 vs. Rays, x3 vs. Guardians, x3 vs. Cubs

Boston’s spot in the 2026 postseason is safe. Right now, it’s more of a question of where the club will wind up.

Twins

Record: 69-77
Remaining Games: x3 vs. Guardians, x3 vs. Yankees, x3 vs. Angels, x3 vs. Giants, x3 vs. Rangers

The Twins are very much on the outside of the Wild Card race. Minnesota has a friendlier schedule, especially if the Twins can take advantage of their three games with the Guardians. But there are several teams ahead of the club.

Yankees

Record: 84-62
Remaining Games: x3 vs. Mets, x3 vs. Twins, x3 vs. Diamondbacks, x3 vs. Rays, x3 vs. Orioles

Like the Red Sox, the Yankees are fine. And in fact, the Yankees are in a strong spot heading into October. Yes, Jazz Chisholm Jr. is hurt. But the offense has been good in recent weeks, and Aaron Judge is back.

National League

Cubs

Record: 81-66
Remaining Games: x3 vs. Pirates, x3 vs. Braves, x3 vs. Reds, x3 vs. Marlins, x3 vs. Red Sox

Can the Cubs out-hit their bullpen troubles? Or can the bullpen straighten things out?

The bullpen cost the Cubs two critical contests in Milwaukee, although the Labor Day loss is debatable for other reasons. There’s no doubt that the Cubs, arguably MLB’s best offense, can score runs. But over the last few weeks, and in the playoffs, timely pitching is more valuable.

Diamondbacks

Record: 78-69
Remaining Games: x3 vs. Rangers, x3 vs. Marlins, x3 vs. Yankees, x3 vs. Rockies, x3 vs. Padres

It’s very possible that the final NL Wild Card spot comes down to the wire, as Arizona and San Diego will meet in the final weekend of the year.

Lars Nootbaar‘s proved to be a spectacular add. Nootbaar, over his last 12 games, hit .367 with a 1.111 OPS. Eduardo Rodriguez has led the pitching staff all year, which now has a healthy Corbin Burnes.

Padres

Record: 78-68
Remaining Games: x3 vs. Giants, x3 vs. Rockies, x3 vs. Marlins, x3 vs. Dodgers, x3 vs, Diamondbacks

The Padres have to do damage before the final weekend, when the club will meet division rivals Los Angeles and Arizona. Nine games against teams with a below .500 record, although six of those are on the road.

Fernando Tatis Jr. and Jackson Merrill have torn through the last month. And like the D-Backs, the Padres now have a healthy live arm back with Nick Pivetta.

Phillies

Record: 82-65
Remaining Games: x3 vs. Braves, x2 vs. Nationals, x4 vs. Mets, x3 vs. Brewers, x3 vs. Rays

Not an easy schedule for the Phillies, who do still have an outside shot at winning the NL East. However, should the Phillies lose at least two games in their upcoming series against Atlanta, throw that idea out the window.

The Phillies, however, are in a good spot. Especially when taking into account that Trea Turner is hot at the right time.

Pirates

Record: 74-73
Remaining Games: x3 vs. Cubs, x3 vs. Brewers, x3 vs. Royals, x3 vs. Cardinals, x3 vs. Tigers

The Pirates defeated the White Sox on September 10, keeping the club’s playoff hopes open for now.

Plain and simple, it won’t be easy. Pittsburgh will have to pass through two teams — the Diamondbacks and Padres — and take down the likes of the Cubs and Brewers.
