Albies and Franco Go Diamond in MLB The Show 23
The ratings update on July 21 saw several MLB players go Diamond in Diamond Dynasty. Braves 2B Ozzie Albies (+2, 86 OVR), Rangers C Jonah Heim (+3, 86 OVR), Rays SS Wander Franco (+2, 85 OVR), and Red Sox OF Masataka Yoshida (+3, 85 OVR) all hit Diamond status.
Albies pulverized opposing pitchers this season, while Jonah Heim and Wander Franco have both had breakouts seasons in 2023.
The recent ratings update did put a strong emphasis on Speed and various fielding attributes. Thus, several big names like Ronald Acuna Jr., Fernando Tatis Jr., and Sean Murphy also received significant boosts. Acuna Jr. is now up to a 95 OVR, while Tatis Jr. got pushed up to 94 OVR.
Mookie Betts (+3, 94 OVR) and Felix Bautista (+3, 92 OVR) were also among the notable upgrades. Bautista, for what’s it worth, received a three point jump for the second time in a month.
There were some notable downgrades, as well. Mets right-hander and 2022 AL Cy Young award winner Justin Verlander fell from Diamond status, as he received a -4 OVR downgrade to 83 OVR. Verlander’s teammate Max Scherzer (-2, 83 OVR) also dropped to a Gold, while Paul Goldschmidt‘s overall went down by three to 85 OVR.
