The eighth week of the 2025 Minor League season ended just before Memorial Day — and it was a big week, as well. Two notable first-round picks from last July’s MLB Draft made their Triple-A debuts: Jac Caglianone and Christian Moore. And, both aced their first test against Triple-A pitching.

A Jac(k) of diamonds in Omaha

It was a big week for the Omaha Storm Chasers, Triple-A affiliate for the Royals. John Rave received a promotion to KC, while Cam Devanney and Jac Caglianone were dominant over the last week.

Devanney hit four home runs over six games, the second-most in the International League. The only player with more was Caglianone, who belted five in his first week in Triple-A. Caglianone finished with the third-highest OPS (1.280) the past week, behind only White Sox farmhands Colson Montgomery and Kyle Teel.

Caglianone likes to swing the bat & that much was true in his first taste of Triple-A; he swung at 49 of the 78 pitches he saw — but only whiffed at 11.

C-Mo(re) in Salt Lake

Angels prospect Christian Moore was promoted to Salt Lake (AAA) last week, pushing him one step closer to LA.

Moore didn’t have a great start to the year in Double-A and overall, his numbers weren’t eye-popping. However, he picked up hits in his last seven games with Rocket City — and he continued that momentum in Triple-A.

The 22-year-old had himself a three-hit night on May 20, his debut with Salt Lake. Two days later, a four-hit game. Moore finished the week with 11, the second-most in the PCL behind Rockies prospect Ryan Ritter (13).

Promotions & moves

Amidst a busy week for the Nationals, Washington made several notable moves.

Yohandy Morales, a 2023 second-round pick, moved up to Rochester (AAA) this past week. Morales, who slashed .315/.366/.520 with Harrisburg (AA), hasn’t translated his college power to the pros. He gets a lot of contact on the ground but has also been very productive in terms of getting on base.

Riley Cornelio, who struck out 39 over 32.2 IP, moved up to Double-A Harrisburg from Wilmington. In turn, Travis Sykora, who missed the start of 2025 recovering from offseason hip surgery, moved up to the Blue Rocks.

Sykora pitched very well in his High-A bow, with nine strikeouts over four innings.

Guardians prospect Chase DeLauter was activated from the injured list and returned to Triple-A.

Now, a look at who moved up to “The Show.”

Marcelo Mayer hit very well down in Triple-A, and that, coupled with the injury of Alex Bregman, earned him a callup to the Majors. And, Mayer wasn’t the only one to get moved up, as Nationals outfielders Daylen Lile & Robert Hassell III, and A’s prospects Logan Davidson and Denzel Clarke, moved up.

Speaking of the Athletics, Luis Morales moved up to Triple-A. Morales had a great opening act in Las Vegas, as he struck out seven over six scoreless innings.
