Without counting the COVID-shortened 2020 season, Major League Baseball (MLB) has held a special regular season in Williamsport, Pennsylvania every year since 2018. The MLB Little League Classic has been run in conjunction with the Little League World Series. But, will that be the case again in 2023? Here’s an answer to that question.

2023 MLB Little League Classic
Traditionally, Major League Baseball has held the Little League Classic every August. That remains the case in 2023.
The 2023 MLB Little League Classic will take place on August 20. The game will take place at Historic Bowman Field, home to the Williamsport Crosscutters of the MLB Draft League and formerly of the New-York Penn League. Prior to the contraction of Minor League Baseball in late 2020, Williamsport was the SS-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies.
It’s fitting, then, that the Phillies are once again a part of the event. The Phillies will be the road team for the Little League Classic, as Philadelphia will take on the Washington Nationals. This will give several big leaguers like Alec Bohm, Rhys Hoskins, and Bryson Stott a chance to play where each started their professional careers.
This will mark the second time in the event’s history that the Phillies will participate in the event. In 2018, Philadelphia hosted the New York Mets in Williamsport. The Mets defeated the Phillies by a score of 8-2. Last year’s event saw the Orioles defeat the Boston Red Sox 5-3.
This will be one of several notable regular season affairs that will take place in the 2023 season. Aside from the 2023 Little League Classic, MLB will hold two games in Mexico and two in England.
