Assuming medicals clear, Heliot Ramos is expected to become a New York Yankee. Ramos, a key part of the Giants’ offense in each of the last three seasons, is reportedly headed to a club in need of an offensive punch thanks to injuries.

The Yankees’ Return

It took a while for Heliot Ramos, once a former first-round pick, to establish himself after he became a first-round pick in 2017. But he did, as the now-26-year-old now has an All-Star nod from 2024 to his name, plus two 20+ home run seasons as a right-handed hitter for the Giants.

A corner outfielder with power, Ramos has never been known to walk too much. For the most part, Ramos had a roughly 30-35% Chase% on most pitch types, sans four-seam fastballs. That number spiked in 2026 but keep in mind that Ramos only played 74 games to this point. He has spent time on the IL this season.

Ramos will enter the first year of arbitration eligibility after 2026.

Analysis

According to ESPN, this deal will be finalized if Ramos’ medicals clear. As of now, Ramos has not been on the IL since late June after he spent over a month on it with a quad strain.

Given that the Yankees have taken hits thanks to the losses of Cody Bellinger & Aaron Judge, Ramos should provide some punch in the Yankees’ lineup. A power hitter who doesn’t profile as someone who would slide in the top three or four of a lineup like the Yankees, simply because he doesn’t get on base a lot.

However, he could be in the middle of a Yankees’ lineup right now, one that will also include Luis Garcia Jr. Garcia Jr. was acquired from the Nationals on August 2.
