The power rankings among MLB right fielders have changed in recent years thanks to several notable sluggers — think Bryce Harper and Fernando Tatis Jr., among others — shifting around the field and that will likely be the case again in 2024. But for right now, who should be considered the best right fielders in MLB? We’ve made our choices for the top five.

5. Adolis Garcia

Adolis Garcia

Rangers right fielder Adolis Garcia might have been one of the game’s most underrated players from 2021-22. That changed in 2023, in what was an incredible campaign for Garcia. The 30-year-old posted career-highs in home runs (39), extra-base hits (68), and OPS for the Texas Rangers.

However, Garcia’s finest work might have been in the 2023 MLB Playoffs. The Rangers outfielder hit eight home runs and posted a 1.108 OPS for the World Series champions and set the record for most runs batted in (22) in a single playoff run.

4. Kyle Tucker

Kyle Tucker

Four players from our 2023 rankings list of the best MLB right fielders return for 2024, including Kyle Tucker. The Astros right fielder came just one home run shy of a 30-30 campaign last year. It was nonetheless impressive, as Tucker hit .284/.369/.517 (.886 OPS) with 29 home runs and a career-high 71 extra-base hits.

From 2021-23, Tucker ranked fourth among primary right fielders (min. 60% GP in RF) in home runs (89) and second in total bases (839).

3. Mookie Betts

Mookie Betts

Dodgers infielder/outfielder Mookie Betts has the third-best OPS (.909) and is tied with Adolis Garcia for the most home runs (97) among primary right fielders from 2021-23. Betts’ versatility has helped the Dodgers in spades but so has his power bat. No right fielder over the last three years has more total bases (870) than the 31-year-old.

For this power rankings list, we’ve categorized Betts as a right fielder since Mookie has mostly played the position over the years. However, Betts is tentatively set to be the Dodgers’ everyday second baseman come 2024. But for now, we still have Betts listed here with the right fielders.

2. Aaron Judge

Aaron Judge

The 2023 campaign wasn’t a record-breaking one for Aaron Judge. However, it was yet another strong one for the slugger. The 2022 AL MVP hit .267/.406/.613 (1.019 OPS) with 37 home runs and 79 runs scored in only 106 games. If it wasn’t for a toe injury that cost Judge almost two months, it’s conceivable to think that he could have hit the 50-home run plateau for the third time in his career.

Like with Betts, we’ve categorized Judge — who played most of his games in 2021 and 2023 in right — as a right fielder. However, Judge has seen significant time at both the DH slot and center field. And, Judge could be the Yankees’ regular center fielder in 2024 after New York added outfielders Alex Verdugo and Juan Soto.

1. Ronald Acuna Jr.

Ronald Acuna Jr.

Braves star and 2023 NL MVP Ronald Acuna Jr. takes the top spot in our rankings of the best right fielders in MLB. Last year was a record-breaking one for Acuna Jr., who posted an eye-popping 1.012 OPS over 159 games and even created his club. Not only did Acuna become the fifth member of the 40-40 club, he also was the first to hit at least 40 home runs and steal 70 or more bases.

Aside from Outs Above Average, Acuna Jr. stood out in virtually every statistical category in 2023. After a sluggish 2022 by Acuna Jr’s standards, the 26-year-old established himself yet again as one of the game’s best overall players.
