The 2024 MLB Spring Breakout will feature many of the game’s top prospects in what can be considered a showcase event. Now that rosters have been released, it’s time to take a look at which notable names to key in on. With that said, here’s one name to watch on every 2024 MLB Spring Breakout roster, starting with the AL East.

AL East

A pair of top prospects headline the AL East prospects in shortstops Jackson Holliday and Marcelo Mayer. However, those aren’t the only interesting names.

Blue Jays infielder Damiano Palmegiani hit well in the AFL last October and he’s fighting for a roster spot. Rays first baseman Xavier Isaac belted 19 home runs in A-ball last year and has a strong frame. Isaac’s not close to the Majors yet but he could a cornerstone building block.

Lastly, Yankees prospect and former first-round pick Spencer Jones, who we profiled last year, will bring his power/speed combination to the Spring Breakout.

AL Central

First-round picks litter this part of the list. Chase DeLauter and Colson Mongtomery are electric power-hitting prospects, while Gavin Cross is looking for a rebound after a tough 2023.

The Twins infield is already loaded but shortstop Brooks Lee could make that group even deeper. Lee posted a .808 OPS in his first full pro season between Double and Triple-A.

The Tigers will bring star outfielder Max Clark to the Spring Breakout. But, those interested in closer reinforcements should pay attention to third baseman Jace Jung, who could be in Detroit at some point in 2024.

AL West

One thing to watch with the AL West teams is which names could be impact players for 2024. Kyren Paris got a cup of coffee in 2023 and pitcher Spencer Arrighetti could make his MLB debut for an Astros team that’s dealing with injury problems among their pitchers.

Harry Ford will look to build after a solid 2023, while Jacob Wilson’s polished approach could mean he’s not far behind even though he finished last season in A-ball.

As for the Rangers, infielder Sebastian Walcott may very well have the highest ceiling among AL West prospects going to the Spring Breakout.

NL East

The star here is Dylan Crews, who’s awfully close to the Majors. However, there are other interesting names among the NL East rosters.

Mick Abel could make his MLB debut in 2024, while Jett Williams may be a candidate in the second half if he can get on base and hit like he did in 2023. Williams ended the year in Double-A after he raced through A-ball.

The Marlins will send top pitching prospect Jacob Berry and Thomas White but Jacob Berry is the name to key in here. Berry was the sixth overall pick in 2022. However, he posted just a .672 OPS in his first full pro season.

NL Central

It’s been a bit since we’ve seen Rhett Lowder. Lowder and Paul Skenes have a battle for the ages in June 2023 in Omaha during the College World Series. Now, the two will participate in the Spring Breakout, albeit on different sides of the continent.

Skenes and Lowder aren’t the only two notable pitching prospects to watch for during the Spring Breakout among NL Central teams. For the Cardinals, Tink Hence is an electric pitcher who can touch the high 90s.

Jackson Chourio is a well-known commodity at this point. However, Cubs shortstop Matt Shaw’s done well in the Cactus League to this point and will get yet another chance to shine.

NL West

Outfielders are the theme here. Druw Jones dealt with injury problems in 2023 but still retains his top prospect status. Bryce Eldridge has one of the best power tools in the Minors, while shortstop-turned-outfielder Jackson Merrill will look to make an impression for the 2024 season.
