Power rankings

Here’s a look at our initial power rankings for the 2024 NL Cy Young:

  1. Zack Wheeler
  2. Zac Gallen
  3. Tyler Glasnow
  4. Freddy Peralta
  5. Merrill Kelly

Things are still early at this point, hence why many of the preseason favorites are here. Merrill Kelly (+4000), though, has made our first power rankings of the season thanks to a strong start. Kelly struck out 12 over his first 13.2 IP and owns a 1.98 ERA as of this writing.

Zac Gallen and Tyler Glasnow have pitched well and both should have serious cases if the two can stay healthy. However, it might be hard to beat Zack Wheeler, who finished second in the 2021 NL Cy Young Award voting.

Wheeler’s been one of the game’s most valuable starters over the last four seasons and he’s off to a strong start in 2024. Wheeler struck out 15 over 12 frames to begin the season and yielded just one earned run.
