On May 14, several notable pitchers went on the injured list. Tanner Houck, a 2024 All-Star was placed on the IL after a rough start to the 2025 season. And in Seattle, Bryce Miller was placed on the IL with a shoulder problems.

Mariners lose Miller

Seattle announced on May 14 that Bryce Miller would be shut down and placed on the 15-day IL with right shoulder inflammation.

Miller said after his start on May 11 he was experience soreness and tightness. He’ll have time to heal but in the interim, the Mariners will have three notable pitchers on the injured list. George Kirby, rehabbing from shoulder inflammation, and Logan Gilbert (elbow) are also on the injured list.

The 26-year-old walked 21 and owned a 5.22 ERA over 39.2 IP.

Quintana on injured list

The Brewers pushed left-hander Jose Quintana back twice this past week thanks to injury. But on May 14, Milwaukee placed Quintana on the 15-day IL with a left shoulder impingement.

Milwaukee recalled Tobias Myers to replace Quintana on the roster.

Houck placed on IL

May 12 marked the second time Tanner Houck gave up 10 or more runs in a single start. On the 14th, Houck was placed on the injured list with a right flexor pronator strain, retroactive to May 13.

Houck was not guaranteed another start after his blowup per manager Alex Cora, as the team was exploring what to do with the 2024 AL All-Star. But with Houck now on the IL, his recovery period can act as a reset.

Other injury news

Twins first baseman Ty France left Game 1 of the team’s doubleheader with a left foot contusion.

Oneil Cruz missed his fourth straight game with a back injury.

Yu Darvish struck out four over four innings with El Paso (AAA), as part of his rehab assignment. He’s coming back from a bout with elbow inflammation. Darvish sat 93-95 MPH with his fastballs but topped out at 97 MPH.
