The Twins and Mariners lost notable pieces on April 25. For Minnesota, their top rookie went down with a wrist injury that will keep him out for the immediate future. Meanwhile, in Seattle, their ace went down with a forearm injury.
Gilbert out with forearm injury
Logan Gilbert exited the Mariners’ game on April 25 with what the team called forearm tightness. Gilbert struck out three over three scoreless innings during Seattle’s game against the Mariners.
It’s not the only news on the injury front for the Mariners on April 25. Seattle placed Gregory Santos on the 15-day IL, rescinding his previous option to the Minors. Per the team, he will have surgery to repair knee cartilage.
Keaschall has forearm fracture
The Twins lost infielder Luke Keaschall after just one week in the Majors. Keaschall exited Minnesota’s game on April 25 after getting hit by a pitch in the first inning on the wrist by Angels pitcher Kyle Hendricks.
Turns out, Keaschall now has a non-displaced forearm fracture.
The 22-year-old got off to a roaring start with the Twins. Keaschall hit .368 with seven hits and five stolen bases over his first 26 plate appearances.
Other injury news
In more pleasant news for Twins fans, Pablo Lopez threw five innings for the team in his first start back from the IL. Additionally, Royce Lewis started his rehab assignment with St. Paul (AAA) on the 25th. Lewis played in one of the Saints’ two games on the 25th, going 1-3 with a strikeout.
Lewis did not play all seven innings.
Red Sox pitcher Lucas Giolito made his rehab performance of 2025 after he comes back from a lengthy absence. With Worcester (AAA), Giolito tossed 85 pitches over 4.2 IP. The right-hander struck out four but walked six. He topped out at 95 MPH during the start.
Colorado moved Thairo Estrada, out with a wrist fracture, from the 10-day IL to the 60-day IL.
The Nationals activated reliever Zach Brzykcy from the 15-day IL.
Jack Leiter will be activated from the IL and pitch for the Rangers on April 27.
