On the latest injury report, the White Sox found out the official diagnosis on Martin Perez, placed on the 60-day IL earlier this week. The Phillies, meanwhile, saw one of their top arms go on a rehab assignment — but saw Cristopher Sanchez leave his start against the Mets prematurely.

Perez out months with elbow injury

White Sox starter Martin Perez was placed on the 60-day IL earlier this week, indicating he won’t be pitching for a while. The left-hander’s been diagnosed with a flexor strain, and ESPN reported his 2025 season is likely over.

Perez was having a good season for the White Sox. The 34-year-old posted roughly average chase numbers and a 3.15 ERA across four starts.

Sanchez leaves start against Mets

Phillies fans may be holding their breath with Cristopher Sanchez, as the left-hander gave way to Joe Ross after only two innings. The 28-year-old gave up four hits and two earned runs over two innings.

The Phillies confirmed Sanchez left due to left forearm soreness.

Sanchez’s overall fastball velocity was up, even though it was a shortened start. His 96.3 MPH mean fastball velo was higher than his 2025 average of 95.9.

Rehab assignments

Speaking of the Phillies, Ranger Suarez made a rehab start on April 22 with Lehigh Valley (AAA). Suarez tossed 59 pitches over five scoreless innings. The left-hander struck out five and sat as high as 93 MPH with his fastball.

Jack Leiter, meanwhile, threw 4.2 innings for Round Rock (AAA). Leiter struck out four and touched 99 MPH with his fastball.
